Puffy Paint Jewelry
This craft project needs time to dry, so it’s best to start as soon as all your guests arrive. You’ll need the following materials: fabric puffy paints, disposable plastic plates in a variety of colors, elastic cord for necklaces and bracelets, earring hangers or posts (available at craft/hobby stores), pin backs (also at craft stores), and a hot glue gun.

Before you begin, cover your work area with newspaper to catch extra drips of paint. Set out the paints, give each child a plate and let them decorate it however they wish. They can draw hearts, stars, and any fun shapes they like.

Near the end of the party, cut the painted forms from the plates. To make a necklace or bracelet, punch holes in each painted shape and string them on the elastic cord.

To make a smaller hole for earrings, briefly heat a needle over a flame (adults only), and push the warm metal through the shape. Then, thread the earring hanger through the hole.

For pin backs and post earrings, use a hot glue gun to stick on the painted shape securely. Be careful not to let the plastic touch the glue gun’s hot tip directly, or it may melt.

Secret Admirer
This game works best when party guests know each other fairly well. To begin, choose a child to be "admired." Seat the chosen one in a chair and gently blindfold his or her eyes. Choose another guest to disguise their voice and say "I’m your secret admirer." If the blindfolded person can guess the identity of his or her admirer, he or she remains seated. When someone successfully stumps the "admired" one, the two trade places. Continue the game with different admirers and secret phrases for more fun!

Lip Sync Contest
Before the party, gather your child’s favorite music selections and some well-known compilations that your party guests will be familiar with. Set up a stage area for your star performers. This could be as simple as a corner draped with crepe paper or lit by a spotlight. To make microphones, cut old paper towel tubes in half and decorate with construction paper, pens, stickers, glitter, etc.

Provide your guests with a list of songs to choose from, or write the songs on strips of paper and let each person draw one from a hat. If no one wants to go solo, divide your party guests in pairs or small groups instead.

If you have a video camera, be sure to tape your guests as they sing their hearts out. Or, take photos of each guest and send them a terrific party favor after you have the film developed.

Musical Chairs
Use the birthday child’s favorite tunes for this classic game! To play, form a circle of chairs, using one less chair than you have guests. Start the music and tell your guests to dance to the music as they travel around the chairs. When the music stops, each participant tries to sit on a chair. The player left standing is out. Continue until there is only one person left. Play again, and let the winner be the “DJ,” who stops and starts the music.

Edible Microphones
Give each singing diva at your party her own microphone! Simply purchase your child’s favorite flavor boxed cake mix; follow instructions. Fill sugar cones with batter to 1/2 inch from top. Wrap cones with foil to prevent edges from burning. Set upright in ovenproof mugs and bake according to package instructions (use time suggested for cupcakes, 18-25 min.) Cool completely. Top with a scoop of ice cream for the final touch!

Fruit & Veggie Tray
Everyone loves finger food, and you’ll feel good knowing your guests are eating a healthy snack. Slice carrots and spread celery sticks with peanut butter. Arrange on a tray with cherry tomatoes, olives, and other vegetables your child enjoys. Use a melon baller to make cantaloupe, honeydew or watermelon more fun. Add grapes, slices of apple, oranges, strawberries, etc.

Pizza Balls
Give your party guests something to sing about!

Ingredients: 1 lb. ground Italian sausage (or beef); 2 cups baking mix; 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese; 1 cup pizza sauce; 1 chopped green bell pepper; 1 medium yellow onion, chopped; two (4 oz.) cans chopped olives; 1 cup water.

Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 400° F.
2. Combine ground meat, baking mix, the vegetable of your choice, mozzarella cheese and pizza sauce. Gradually stir in water until the mixture is a workable consistency. Roll into 1-inch balls.
3 Arrange pizza balls on a foil-lined baking sheet. Bake for 20 minutes, or until lightly browned. Serve warm.

Mocha Coolers
Treat your guests to a special drink that taste just like a mocha cappuccino! To serve six, you’ll need crushed ice, straws, tall clear glasses, and the following ingredients: 2 Tbs. cocoa powder, 6 Tbs. honey, 6 cups nonfat milk, and 2 Tbs. instant decaffeinated coffee mix.

Combine cocoa, honey, and 2 cups milk in a saucepan. Stir until blended and gradually add remaining milk. Slowly warm over low heat, stirring frequently. Add instant coffee and mix until completely dissolved. Remove from heat. Let stand.

Fill each glass halfway with crushed ice and pour in the mocha mixture. Garnish with a dollop of whipped cream and sprinkle with chocolate powder or chocolate flakes. Serve with a straw.

Note: For guests who don’t like coffee, simply make instant cocoa without adding any coffee. For variety, add a shot of flavoring, such as mint or vanilla. Serve over ice with the same toppings.
