Play-Doh and Cookie Cutter Activity

Follow the Robot
Get into the spirit of Rolie Polie Olie with this silly activity! Begin the game with the birthday child leading the others as they line up behind him or her. As the leader makes all sorts of creative robotic moves, the others in line follow. If the leader needs help, suggest hopping, jumping, twirling, rolling, etc. Pick a new leader every few minutes, and play music for fun.

Design Your Own Planet
Set up an arts and crafts station where the kids can decorate their own Rolie Polie planet! Before the party, string a loop of thread through a styrofoam ball for each guest, so it can be hung later. Cover your activity table with a protective cloth. Set out stickers, markers, glue, small dishes of glitter, confetti, etc., and let the kids have fun decorating. When the kids are finished with their “planets,” use a clothespin to hang them up to dry. Write each child’s name on a piece of tape and attach it to his or her creation

Okie Dokie Balloon Relay
Your guests will love this fun relay inspired by Olie’s favorite phrase! Before the party, inflate two balloons. When it’s game time, get the kids in two single file lines, facing the front of the line. Place a balloon between the knees of the first child in each line. They turn to face the next person in their line; the second child grasps the balloon with his or her knees and turns to pass it on to the third person, and so on. Each time the balloon is passed, the receiver must say “Okie Dokie.” If the balloon falls to the ground the team must start over. Note: If using knees is too hard, try passing the balloon with elbows instead!

Everything’s Round
In Olie’s robot world, everything is round. Take your preschoolers on a walk around the house or the neighborhood, and write down all the round things they discover! They’ll love this simple activity!

Olie’s Make & Take Placemats
This coloring activity is a great way to break up more active games, or calm the children as the party begins to wind down. Before everyone arrives at your house, remove the pages from a Rolie Polie Olie coloring book or print out several coloring pages from the Internet. You’ll also need to provide crayons, thin pieces of cardboard (for stiffening the placemats), and a roll of clear Con-Tact paper for this activity.

To prepare, cut the cardboard to match the size of two coloring pages. Cut the Con-Tact paper a little larger than the cardboard, so it’s easier to work with. When your guests are ready to color, give each child one or two pages and let them have fun. Make sure to write the kids’ names on their pages when they finish. Then, lay the pictures on top of the cardboard and cover with the Con-Tact paper.

Polka-Dotted Paper Hunt
Before the party, wrap a small favor for each guest in plain white paper. Use a red marker to draw red polka dots on the first package, blue on the second package, and so on, until you have decorated a gift for each guest with a different color marker.

When the children are ready to leave, hand them each a piece of the polka-dotted paper you made (different color for each guest). Send each guest off to find the hidden favor which is wrapped in the same color paper to match the piece he or she was given. Hide the favors in a separate room, or in the yard if the weather permits. Your guests will love discovering their polka-dotted prizes!

Zowie’s Rainbow Punch
Create a drink that's as much fun to make as it is to drink! Before the party, freeze several of your child's favorite Kool-Aid® flavors (berry, orange, lemon, lime, grape, etc.) in ice cube trays. Fill trays about half full so more cubes will fit in each child’s glass.

At serving time, place the rainbow cubes in a large bowl and let the children fill their cups with their choice of colored cubes. Then, pour lemon-lime soda into each child's glass. Your guests will be delighted with the rainbow of colors!
