Crafts & Activities

Theme related children's crafts and activities for children's birthday parties.

Powerpuff Bluff
When evil looms in Townsville, the call goes out for the Powerpuff Girls! Under the supervision of their mentor, Professor Utonium, the girls fly into action against a variety of evil villains. For this activity, write the names of each Powerpuff Girl, the professor, and a few villains (real or imaginary) on strips of paper. Divide guests in two teams, and let each guest draw a character from a hat. Give each team a separate room to plan an adventure of their very own, where they get to star as the heroines or villains. Provide simple props or name tags to designate characters and let each team have fun acting out their Powerpuff story for each other.

Muscle Power
The Powerpuff Girls have to be strong in order to keep up their relentless struggle for truth and justice. Try this quick workout to get your guests in good shape like Blossom, Buttercup, and Bubbles! To prepare, recruit some help to inflate 50 to 100 small balloons. Divide the guests into two teams. Select one guest on each team to be the "weakling," and the remaining guests will be Powerpuff trainers. Gather teams on opposite sides of the room and divide the balloons between them. After each weakling has put a union suit (one-piece long underwear) over their clothes, the Powerpuff trainers must help each weakling grow instant muscles as quickly as possible. Give the teams one minute to stuff as many balloons into the weaklings union suit as possible. When time is up, let everyone admire the weaklings’ new muscles (have a camera handy). Then remove and count the balloons. The team that uses the most balloons, wins! Play again with new weaklings.

Swamp Monster
Help the Powerpuff Girls defeat the latest villain who is terrorizing Townsville! Choose a child to be the Swamp Monster and divide remaining guests into 2 teams. Create a "swamp" with 20 ft. of clear space, where the monster "swims" back and forth. Line up teams on opposite sides of the swamp. The game begins when the monster chooses a player, and begins counting slowly aloud to 10 with eyes closed. Meanwhile, the chosen player must point to a player on the opposite team. The 2 must then crawl across the swamp as quickly as possible without being discovered. When the monster has counted to 10, it can open its eyes and crawl after the players crossing the swamp. A tagged player either remains trapped in the swamp, or becomes the new monster. If you choose to keep the same monster, then the surviving team wins!

Candy Necklaces
You will need two feet of string for each guest, and candy or sweet cereal with holes. Before the party, fill small bowls with the candy or cereal and place them within easy reach of your guests at the party table. Give each child a length of string and let them create their own edible necklaces.

Pinatas

Flower Power Piņata

21" Flower Power Piñata
Your guests will have a swinging good time trying to break open this piñata. A removable sticker marks the hidden location where candy should be inserted. Piñata fillers and pull-string piñata kit sold separately.

Piņatas

Pinata Fillers

Kids love the excitement of trying to break open a piñata and see the treasures rain down. This 96-piece assortment of toys and candy is perfect for eight guests, and will bring even more fun to your piñata activity.

Pull-String Piñata Kit
Turn your piñata into a pull-string for a gentler piñata activity. Kit includes trap door release and 20 pull strings.

Tasty Treats And Menu Ideas

Blossom’s Sandwich Surprises
Before the party, brown 1/2 lb. lean ground beef and 1/4 onion in a frying pan. Drain off the grease, and cool. Stir in a 12-oz jar of pizza sauce, 2 Tbs. chopped olives, 1 tsp. dried, crushed basil, and 1/2 tsp. dried, crushed oregano. Slice 4 French rolls in half lengthwise and hollow out the insides within 1/2 in. of the edges. Sprinkle grated cheese into the bottom, spoon meat mixture over it, and sprinkle more cheese on top. Place the tops of the rolls back on, wrap each in foil, and bake at 375 degrees for 20 minutes. Serve warm. Makes four servings. Your guests are sure to love these tasty treats!

Energy Shake
For this recipe, you will need 2 ripe bananas, 3 cups nonfat frozen yogurt, and 1/2 cup smooth, low-fat , low-sugar, peanut butter to serve 4 guests. Cut bananas into pieces. Place half of each ingredient in a blender to prevent overflow. Whirl until smooth, and repeat steps for the remaining ingredients. Pour mixture into glasses and serve. Helpful hint: use nonfat milk to make a drink instead of a shake. Your guests will love this crazy concoction, and they won’t even know how good it is for them!

Thirst Quencher
This healthy drink is sure to bring cheers from all your guests! Combine a 16-oz. jar of applesauce with a 12-oz partially thawed can of frozen orange juice concentrate in a blender. Add 48 oz of water (3 cans) and mix together. Hint: apple juice concentrate can be substituted for the orange juice concentrate to make a rich apple thirst quencher.

Chewy Energy Pops
After a day of upholding justice, your little crimefighters will need to replenish their energy! In a saucepan (or microwaveable container) melt 1/4 cup margarine and one 10-oz package of miniature marshmallows over medium heat. Stir constantly, so the mixture does not burn. Slowly add 6 cups of your favorite crispy rice cereal, and mix until cereal is evenly coated. Remove the pan from heat and add 1 cup of your favorite treat. Popular ideas are small chocolate candies, butterscotch chips, peanuts, or raisins. Spoon mixture into small paper cups (wax-lined cups prevent pops from sticking) and press lightly to fill. Insert a popsicle stick into each cup and press mixture again. Cool and refrigerate until party time. Makes 12 energy pops.

Pigs in a Blanket
Your guests are sure to squeal over these delectable delights. Purchase your favorite brand of hot dogs, cheese, and refrigerator croissants. Slice hot dogs lengthwise and cut cheese into strips. Unroll croissants and stuff them with hot dogs and cheese. Roll croissants back up and bake as directed, or until golden brown.

These delicious treats are so good, your party guests will clean every last crumb from their plates. Don't be surprised if they make pigs of themselves and come back for more!
