Crafts & Activities

Find
Hello Kitty!
Hello Kitty and her twin sister Mimi love to play outdoors,
so invite your guests to play a game of hide and seek! To play this game select
a child to be "Hello Kitty." Its nice to choose the birthday child
on their special day. (If you wish, let the birthday child choose someone to be
Mimi, and they can hide together.) Start the guests counting slowly to 50 while
Hello Kitty and Mimi hide somewhere near the party room. When the guests have
counted to 50, release them to look for Hello Kitty and Mimi. As each child finds
the twins, tell them to hide next to them. One by one, the guests will disappear
from the party area. The last child to discover the twins in their hiding place
gets to be Hello Kitty in the next game. Your little searchers will have a hard
time containing their giggles when they are all packed into one hiding place like
sardines!
Paw Print
Socks
Your guests will enter your home as kids and leave as Hello Kitty
with this fun activity! For each guest, you will need a pair of white cotton socks,
two cardboard strips (to fit inside each sock), scrap paper, a pencil, and fabric
markers/paint. Practice sketching several different paw prints on paper before
guests arrive, so you are better prepared to help them. Display your sketches
(even if they are not perfect) to inspire your guests. Demonstrate how to stretch
a sock over a cardboard strip. Use a pencil to outline a paw print on your guests
socks. Let the kids fill in the outline, using fabric markers or paint. Encourage
your guests to be creative and have some fun - both socks do not have to match!
Hunt for the Birthday
Cake
Hello Kitty loves to bake cakes! On your childs big day, create
a special hunt for the birthday cake! You will need the help of at least a few
family members, neighbors, or friends. Separate guests into teams and give each
team a set of clues and party favors to find. Give each child a bag to put the
favors in and make sure each guest has at least one favor (so nobody feels left
out.) The clues and favors should lead the children to the location of the cake.
Keep the cake close to home and under adult supervision. Excited children running
through the house with a cake can be messy! The first team to locate the cake
gets served first.
Finger
Painting Fun!
Hello Kitty and Mimi love painting with their grandfather
while listening to his splendid tales. Bring out your finger paints and let your
guests draw pictures of Hello Kitty and her family on large pieces of butcher
paper. Be sure to lay a protective covering on the party table first. While your
guests are having fun and getting messy, read them a Hello Kitty story to inspire
them!

Treats And Menu Ideas

Flower Power Cake Pan
Flower Power Cake Pan
Add some power to your party with this groovy, flower-shaped
cake pan. Includes a helpful guide with baking and decorating instructions. Molded
pan accomodates any 2-layer cake recipe, and serves approximately 12-15 children.
(Dimensions: 11.5" x 11.5".)
Star-Studded
Soda
Hello Kitty loves stars, so serve this fun drink in her honor! Freeze
red fruit punch or cranberry juice in a star shaped ice tray. Serve 2 or 3 red
star ice cubes in a glass of light-colored soda or lemonade. Theyll sparkle
and tumble around the glass for an added touch.
Paw-Print
Cookies
Make your favorite sugar cookie recipe or purchase ready-made
dough. Roll dough into balls and gently flatten to a 1/4 inch thick with a flat
object (the bottom of a glass works well). Let kids make their Hello Kitty paw
print. Show them how to use their thumb for the center of the paw, and form little
toe marks with the tip of their small finger. When the kids are finished, bake
and enjoy!
Grandmas Purr-fect
Pudding
Although Hello Kittys Grandma is a master pudding maker,
you wont have to spend all day in the kitchen making this quick recipe.
Simply purchase a package, or two, of instant pudding in your childs favorite
flavor. Follow the directions on the package, making sure to prepare the pudding
a few hours before the party, so it can properly chill. When its time to
serve, swirl two flavors together for a special marbled effect.
Tea
Sandwiches
One of Hello Kittys favorite things to do is invite
her all her friends over for a tea party. Traditional tea sandwiches are filled
with cream cheese, smoked salmon, egg salad, sliced cucumber and dill, or chicken
salad. Use some of these old favorites, or choose any sandwich filling your child
likes. Spread fillings on your childs favorite bread and cut them with cookie
cutters for added fun!
Tea Party
Punch
This pleasant punch will complement your tea sandwiches nicely,
especially if your guests do not like real tea. You will need: 2 quarts of weak
tea; 1 quart of pineapple juice; 1 cup of fruit punch; 2 cups of ginger ale; and
Ice cubes. Make tea in advance and let it chill for several hours. Add the remaining
ingredients and chill a little longer. Add ice cubes and serve in tall glasses.
For an added touch, top each drink off with a paper umbrella and a colorful straw.
Makes about 12 servings.
Tea Pot
Cake
Purchase and prepare your child's favorite flavor Pillsbury®
cake mix according to package directions; bake using a round ball cake pan (sold
separately). Prepare your own sugar cookie recipe at home. Roll cookie dough to
the recommended thickness and cut into the shape of two identical teapot handles
and two identical spouts. (Its a good idea to make extra pieces, just in
case the cookies break.) When the cookies have cooled, place frosting on one teapot
handle cookie and stick the other one to it. Do the same thing for the teapot
spouts. (This makes the handle and spout stronger). After the cake has cooled,
assemble it according to the directions included. Then, carefully press the cookie
handle and spout into the cake. Decorate your teapot with white icing, using a
star-shaped frosting tip. To add the finishing touch, use different colored frosting
to add decorative colored flowers to your teapot cake. Enjoy!
