Fish
for a Name Tag
Make a fish-shaped name tag for each guest using thick, colorful paper.
Decorate with markers and attach a paper clip to the mouth of each fish.
Place all the fish in an empty kiddie pool or decorated box. As each guest
arrives, hand him or her a fishing pole (sturdy stick with a yarn line
and a magnet hook). When a fish is caught, write
the childs name on it or give them the name of their favorite character
from the Finding Nemo movie.
Squirting
Gallery
Party guests will have lots of fun testing their accuracy with this fun
outdoor game! Set up several empty plastic pop bottles at a distance 8-10
ft from the place where players will stand. Lay a jump rope down for the
line shooters must stand behind. Give each guest a squirt gun, and see
who can knock down the most bottles! For younger children, decrease the
distance between the bottles and the shooting line.
Underwater
Swim
To begin, guests stand in a circle, facing inward. Choose three underwater
creatures and walk around the circle naming the kids in sequence - whale,
shark, turtle, whale, shark, turtle, etc., so you have several of each
underwater animal standing at intervals.
When
you call out the name of a group, the kids in that group go for a swim.
This means walking around the outside of the circle and listening to your
instructions. If you say the sea is rough, they must jog around the circle.
When you say its getting rougher they run faster and if you say
the tide turns, they turn and run in the other direction. When you say
STORM, they must run back to their original places in the
circle. The last to arrive is out and sits in place, facing outward. To
make the game more fun, call out more than one group at a time. Continue
the game until there is only one player left swimming.
Take
a Trip Underwater
If time permits, take your guests on a trip to your local aquarium to
learn about everyday life under the sea! Many aquariums offer tours and
programs especially for children. Perhaps your guests will be lucky enough
to catch a glimpse of Nemo!
Making
Waves
You will need the following for this activity: cooking oil, glitter, confetti,
a small plastic bottle for each guest, blue or green food coloring, rubber
cement glue, and water. To begin, use a funnel to fill each bottle half
full of water. Add blue or green food coloring and mix. Use the funnel
to fill the bottle almost to the top with oil. Point out how the oil floats
above the water! Next, add confetti and glitter to decorate the liquid.
When finished, seal the lid on the bottle tightly with rubber cement;
allow to dry. Your guests will love playing with the waves theyve
created!
Sea
Shell Treasure Hunt
Use your childs sandbox or fill a plastic swimming pool with sand.
Add different sea shells and cover with sand. Let the kids search for
the shells and take them home as party favors. Add unusual rocks or other
treasures that can be found under the sea.
Octopus
Tag
The birthday child begins as the Octopus in the middle of a large playing
area. All other players are Fish who must try to run past the Octopus
to the other side of the playing area. If a Fish is tagged, he or she
holds hands with the Octopus and become a tentacle to help tag more fish.
The last Fish alive, wins!
Fish,
Fish, Shark
This game is based on the traditional Duck, Duck, Goose game,
but instead of a goose chasing a duck, a shark chases a fish. Start with
all your little fishes seated in a circle. Designate a leader to walk
around the circle, tapping guests on the head and calling each person
a fish. After several guests have been tapped, the leader chooses one
guest and yells out Shark when tapping him or her on the head.
The Shark chases the leader and tries to tag her as she races around the
circle and back to the Sharks spot. If the leader is caught, then
she remains the leader another round. If the leader escapes the Shark,
the Shark becomes the new leader. Repeat the game until every guest has
a chance to be the leader.

treasures rain down. This 96-piece assortment of toys and candy is perfect
for eight guests, and will bring even more fun to your piñata activity.

activity. Kit includes trap door release and 20 pull strings.
Tasty Treats And Menu Ideas
Clam
Chowder
For an ofishal theme-related dish, serve clam chowder topped
with oyster crackers! Simply purchase canned clam chowder and warm it
prior to meal time. Serve with crackers.
Starfish
Cake
Bake your childs favorite cake in two round cake pans. When cool,
leave one layer whole and cut the second layer into five equal triangle
sections. (These five pieces will become the legs of the starfish.) Place
the first layer in the center of a large, flat serving tray or platter.
Trim the curved edges of the starfish legs, so they fit snugly against
the round edge of the body piece. Arrange the legs neatly around the body
of the starfish and attach with icing.
Frost
the entire starfish with bright yellow, orange, purple, or red icing.
Decorate with colored sprinkles while the icing is still damp to give
it a spiny texture. For extra fun, spread blue frosting on the serving
tray to make it look like the starfish is in the water.
Fish
Crackers
Set out a bowl of fish-shaped crackers for your guests to snack on during
the party, or as an appetizer while you prepare other snacks.
Worms
in a Blanket
Dont be surprised if the little fishes at your party get hooked
on these delicious worms! To prepare, purchase your favorite brand of
hot dogs, cheese, and refrigerator croissants. Slice hot dogs lengthwise
and cut cheese into strips. Unroll croissants and stuff them with hot
dogs and cheese. Roll croissants back up and bake as directed, or until
golden brown. Enjoy!
Turtle
Shell Treats
Your guests will love this treat inspired by Crush, the 150-year-old sea
turtle who helps Marlin and Dory find their way through the Eastern Australian
Current. This healthy snack can be prepared quickly beforehand, or used
as a fun activity during the party! Make one as a centerpiece, or prepare
one for each guest.
To begin,
spread a large leaf of lettuce on a plate. Set a pear half (canned or
fresh) in the center of the plate to make the turtles shell. Cut
two apricot halves in half to make four legs and place two on each side
of the pear. Add an apricot half to make a head. Finish with mini chocolate
chips or raisins for eyes, nose, etc.
Shark
Punch
This refreshing drink has a surprise bite lurking just beneath
the surface! A day before the party, make shark ice cubes by freezing
bite-sized gummy shark candy in ice cube trays filled with water. Let
the trays stand at room temperature for an hour to remove the air bubbles
before placing them in the freezer. The candy will dissolve slightly while
freezing, tinting the cubes a soft pastel color.
Then,
prepare blue drink mix according to package instructions (Kool-Aid®
works well). Pour the blue drink into a punch bowl and add 2 liters of
ginger ale. When serving, place two or three shark cubes in a tall, clear
glass for each child and fill with punch!
Seaweed
Slaw
Cook three 10 oz. packages of French-cut style green beans according to
directions on the package. Drain and chill for two hours. Prepare dressing
by combining 3/4 cup mayonnaise, 1 tablespoon lemon juice, 1 tablespoon
sugar, 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and 1 teaspoon onion
powder. Stir until smooth. Toss dressing with beans and chill for several
hours, or overnight. (For guests who are not fond of green beans/vegetables,
consider a completely different "seaweed" alternative: use diced
or balled honeydew melon to make a seaweed salad with green grapes, green
gelatin, or other tasty ingredient colored with green food coloring.)
