Balloon Bounce

Everyone lies down in a circle (heads together and feet facing out). Try to keep a balloon up as long as possible. Start with three balloons and see how long they can keep it going.

Crepe Paper Tag

This game needs lots of room - like a backyard..
Split into two groups - each team gets their own color of crepe paper.
Tie the crepe paper around the waists of each player - like a belt.
The goal is to rip off the other teams belts before they rip off yours. Once a player gets debelted, they sit down. The last person left standing with his belt on wins.

Balloon Relay

Divide your guests into two equal teams. Give each leader an inflated balloon and at the start of go have him/her pass it to the person behind him/her by passing the balloon over his/her head, the next person will pass it along through his/her legs. Keep alternating until it gets to the end. The team that finishes first wins.

Cookie Monster's Monster Cookie
Topping a giant cookie with whipped cream, walnuts, coconut and candy makes a fun dessert pizza!

1/2 cup packed brown sugar

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened

1 teaspoon vanilla

1 egg

1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 package (12-ounce size) miniature semisweet chocolate chips (1 cup)

1 cup sweetened whipped cream

1/4 cup chopped walnuts

1/4 cup flaked or shredded coconut, toasted

1/2 cup candy-coated chocolate candies.

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Mix sugars, butter, vanilla and egg in large bowl. Stir in flour and baking soda (dough will be stiff). Stir in chocolate chips. Spread or pat dough in ungreased 12-inch pizza pan or on cookie sheet. Bake about 15 minutes or until golden brown; cool in pan. Just before serving, spread cookie with whipped cream. Top with walnuts, coconut and candies. Cut into wedges. Immediately refrigerate any remaining cookie after serving. Makes 16 servings

Oscar's Slushies

Cool off with these fun and fruity ice cubes.

1 envelope (2-quart size) strawberry-flavored soft drink mix

2/3 cup sugar

3 cups water

1 pint (2 cups) strawberries, stems removed, or frozen whole strawberries

2 bottles (1 liter each) lemon-lime soda pop

Mix soft drink mix, sugar and water. Pour into divided ice-cube tray. Place 1 whole strawberry in each cube. Freeze at least 4 hours or overnight. To serve, place frozen fruit cubes in glasses. Fill glasses with soda pop. Makes 8 servings

Silly Shape Sandwiches
Get the gang together for these fun-shaped sandwiches! Make the birthday child’s favorite kind of sandwiches and use cookie cutters to cut them into fun shapes. Reinforce the lessons taught on Sesame Street by cutting them in triangles, circles, squares, etc. Encourage the kids to say the shape they’re choosing before they take it from the tray.

Elmo’s Fish Bowl
Serve this yummy party favorite in honor of Elmo’s pet goldfish! Purchase two packages of blue Jell-O® and prepare according to package instructions. Pour into a large, clear bowl (or a clean fishbowl if you have one) and set it in the refrigerator. As the gelatin thickens, insert a few goldfish crackers into the “water.” Set your fish bowl on the table as a centerpiece until it’s time to eat. When serving, scoop out some blue gelatin for each guest. Add a few crackers to each child’s portion so everyone gets their own goldfish!

Oscar’s Orange Crush
Even the grouchiest member of the gang loves this delicious drink! Your guests will love it too, without realizing how good it is for them! To prepare, combine one 12-ounce can frozen orange juice concentrate, 3 cups nonfat milk, and 1 pint low-fat orange sherbert in a blender. (If necessary, halve ingredients to prevent your blender from overflowing.) Mix well and pour into glasses. Serve with a straw for fun. Enjoy!

Bert’s Banana Treats
Make eating fruit fun with this creative snack that looks like Bert! You’ll need bananas, raisins, thin black licorice, white candy confetti, small orange candies (such as M-n-Ms) and a picture of Bert.

Peel the bananas; cut each in half so both halves stand up on the flat cut to look like Bert’s head. Press small pieces of licorice or sliced raisins in the rounded top of the banana to make Bert’s hair. For eyebrows, slice raisins in half lengthwise and press them into the fruit. Draw a pupil on the white candy confetti or use a tiny slice of licorice. Use an orange candy for the nose and a length of licorice for the mouth. Use chunks of banana for Bert’s ears.
