Theme related children's crafts and activities for children's birthday parties.

Bone Drop

Have child stand over a jar with a somewhat small opening (depending on child's age). Let them have 10 clothespins and see how many they can put in the jar by dropping them as they stand straight up.

Dino Egg Toss

This game must be played outdoors for it gets a little messy.
Divide your guests into two equal teams.
Have them line up in two horizontal lines facing each other about 2 feet apart.
The person facing the other will be partners.
Give one line an unboiled egg.
At the sound of "go" the partner with the egg will toss it to the other. They must catch it without it breaking. If someone breaks the egg or does not catch it, they are out. Before they toss it again they both must take one step backwards.
Repeat this until only one team is left.
You may substitute water balloons instead of real eggs.

Dragon-Foot Relay
Before the party, cut four claw-foot shapes from cardboard. Each foot should measure approximately 12" x 15" in size. (Birthday Express shipping boxes work great for this project!) Divide your guests into two equal lines and give the first person in each line two feet. These feet become the only thing they can step on as they travel from the front of the line, around a chair, and back to the start.

Begin with the first two players placing one of their claw-feet on the ground and stepping on it; then, they place the other foot on the ground and step on it. They continue this all the way around the course and then return to the line. When they reach the finish line, they hand the two feet to the next person. The relay continues until everyone has a turn. The team that completes the course first wins!

Badges of Honor
Make your guests feel special and stimulate their imaginations with this fun craft project. Each dragon in Dragon Land wears a unique badge that glows when he or she overcomes a personal challenge. Before the party, cut out several badges for each guest, in a variety of colors, shapes, and sizes. Provide glue, scissors, glitter, markers, photos, magazine pictures, etc., and encourage the kids to express themselves.

During the party, hand out extra badges as fun favors when playing games. When sticking the badges on the children, honor them with special awards, i.e., for the Biggest Smile, Best Behavior, Most Infectious Giggle, Best Team-Player, etc.

Mushroom Hopping
This twist on an old favorite will bring a smile to every face! Pair dragons together or let them choose their own partners. If they choose partners, suggest that they pick someone their own size because they will have to jump over him or her.

This game is best played outdoors since you need lots of room. Designate start and finish lines, such as trees or other landmarks. When you say “GO,” the first partner crouches on the ground (as the mushroom) while the other leaps over (as the dragon.) When the second person has leaped over, he or she crouches on the ground while the first person leaps over. Dragons and mushrooms alternate leaping and crouching until they have reached the finish line. To make the game more fun, tell each player to shout “Dragon Tales” or “Mushroom Hopping” as they leap over each other.

Continue the fun with a piggyback race, wheelbarrow race, sack race, or any other fun relay race.

3 Tbls. melted Butter or Margarine

1 Pint Chocolate Ice Cream

Candy Dinosaurs - optional

Put the cookies in a plastic bag & crush them with a rolling pin. In a bowl, combine 3/4 of the cookies and the melted margarine. Place into a greased 9" pie tin. Press the mixture against the bottom & sides to form a crust. Freeze it for 20 minutes. Soften the ice cream by putting it in a bowl and stirring it with a large spoon. Mix in the candy dinosaurs. Carefully spread the softened ice cream over the frozen crust. Sprinkle the remaining cookie crumbs on the ice cream; freeze for at least one hour. Top each serving with a candy dinosaur or use one of our dino figurines

Volcano Cake

Make a volcano cake out of a bundt cake. Fill the center with pudding and let it ooze out the top. Place our plastic dinosaur figurines around the bottom and on top of the cake. You can make dirt around the bottom by sprinkling graham cracker crumbs.

Fruit Slushies
For this refreshing drink, you will need:

one 10 oz. package each frozen strawberries and frozen raspberries (both partially thawed);
one 12 oz. can frozen lime juice concentrate;
one 32 oz. bottle of ginger ale (chilled);
one 32 oz. bottle of club soda (chilled);
and one pint vanilla ice cream.

Puree fruit in a blender and combine with the lime juice concentrate. Chill for at least one hour. At the party, pour mixture into a punch bowl, add ginger ale and club soda and add scoops of vanilla ice cream.

Dragons in a Blanket
To make these tasty treats, simply purchase your favorite brand of hot dogs, cheese, and refrigerator croissants. Slice hot dogs lengthwise and cut cheese into strips. Unroll croissants and stuff them with hot dogs and cheese. Roll croissants back up and bake as directed, or until golden

Power Munchies
Give your little Dragon Tales fans extra energy with this popular, easy-to-grab snack. Combine your child’s favorite treats in a large bowl (m&m® candies, peanuts, licorice pieces, granola, pretzels, raisins, coconut, or dried fruit). Let your guests scoop out their own cupful of munchies to snack on during the party.

Dragonberry Cupcakes
To make delightful dragonberry cupcakes, simply make your favorite yellow cupcake recipe, or purchase Pillsbury® cake mix and follow the directions. When all the ingredients have been combined, add 1 1/2 cups blueberries to the batter and gently stir them in. Bake according to recipe or package instructions and let cool. Enjoy them frosted or plain.

Note: Another alternative that’s just as good is blueberry muffins. Even if you guests know the berries aren’t really dragonberries, they’ll love them all the same!
