Ladybug Bag Activity (4)
Create lovely ladybug tote bags with this fun activity. Kit includes 7" x 7" canvas bags, glue, jiggle eyes, felt circles, and instructions. (Ages 4 and up. Parent participation recommended.)

Spanish "Happy Birthday"
As soon as all your guests arrive, sing “Happy Birthday” to the guest of honor in classic Dora style. The Spanish words are written below and the tune is the same!

Picture-Card Treasure Hunt
Tap into your guests’ love of exploring with a treasure hunt! This simple version is perfect for pre-schoolers who may not read yet.

Before the party, make 8-12 clue cards on individual 3x5 cards. Draw a picture of something in your house or yard on each card (or cut out and paste magazine pictures of household items you have.) Write the clue number in the top left corner of each card. Hide the clues before the kids arrive, making sure the treasure stash is well hidden.

When it’s time to play, gather your party guests around, hand out the first clue and tell the kids to find the object on the card. For example, if the first card shows a dog house, the kids will go there and find a second clue card with a cookie jar on it. Then, they’ll go to the cookie jar and find a third clue card with another object on it, and so on. The hunt continues until the children find the stash of theme-related treasures that you’ve hidden.

If you prefer to make the cake or cupcakes the treasure, put a picture of yourself on the last clue card. When the kids come running back to you, they’ll be delighted with the treats waiting for them!

For older children, write the name of each object in Spanish next to its picture for more fun. It’s also fun to include stickers or other small, theme-related favors for guests along the way with each clue card.

Noisemakers
Your guests will have loads of fun making their own noisemakers at your fiesta. For this activity, you will need two plain, white paper plates for each child. You’ll also need a stapler as well as dried beans, rice, macaroni, buttons, or other small, hard objects to put inside the noisemakers.

To begin, let each child put a handful of beans on a paper plate. Then, turn a second plate upside down and staple it to the first around the edges. Provide markers, crayons, glue, glitter, fabric scraps, yarn, etc. and let the children have fun decorating their own special noisemakers.

Party Piñata!
This activity is always a smashing success at any children’s party. Hang your piñata in the party room, or use it as a centerpiece on your party table, until it’s time to start swinging.

When it’s time to break the piñata open, hang it in an open area. Gently blindfold each child when it is his or her turn to try to hit the piñata. Lead the others in Spanish counting - uno, dos, tres - as each child tries to smash open the piñata.

Crispy Chicken Quesadillas
Kids can’t wait to get their hands on these south of the border snacks! To prepare, purchase chicken breasts, shredded mozzarella cheese, and a package of flour tortillas. Cook the chicken and slice it into thin strips before the party. When it’s time to eat, add cheese and a few strips of chicken to half of each tortilla. Fold tortillas in half, place on a baking sheet, and lightly coat the top of each one with butter. Bake at 350 degrees F for 8-10 minutes. Cut quesadillas into pie shapes and serve warm with salsa and sour cream. Enjoy!

Pineapple Punch
Serve this tropical drink to make your guests feel like they’re out on the trail exploring with Dora! In a large punch bowl, combine two 46-oz. cans of pineapple juice with one liter of lemon-lime soda. Add 4 oz. of sweetened raspberry-flavored drink mix powder and stir well. Serve over ice.

Fresh Taco Bar
For a treat your guests will love building themselves, prepare all your child’s favorite taco fixings and set them out in bowls on your table. Provide crispy corn tortilla shells, spicy ground beef filling, shredded lettuce, grated cheese, chopped tomatoes, sliced olives, salsa, sour cream, etc.

Give the children taco shells on plates and let them walk around your “taco bar” filling their shells with the ingredients of their choice!

Fiesta Fruit Swords
You will need kabob skewers and your child’s favorite fruits. Put melon balls, berries, apple chunks, etc. on the skewers and serve them sticking out of the upside down half of a melon. The visual effect is best if all the fruits are arranged in the same order, with a strawberry speared on top!

Churros
These are so good, your partygoers will beg for more! If you don’t have time to make these delicious Latin fritters, call a local Mexican restaurant and order some for the party day.

Directions:
1. In a saucepan, combine 2 cups water, 5 tablespoons white sugar, 1 teaspoon salt, and 4 tablespoons vegetable oil over medium heat.
2. Bring the mixture to a boil and remove from heat. Stir in 2 cups of flour until mixture forms a ball.
3. In a deep skillet or deep-fryer, heat 2 quarts of oil to 375 degrees F.
4. Use a pastry bag to pipe strips of the dough into the hot oil. Fry the dough until it’s golden brown. Drain the churros on paper towels.
5. Combine 1 cup white sugar and 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon. Roll the drained churros in the mixture until they are well coated. (Makes 8)

Serve these tasty treats with vanilla ice cream for a fun alternative to cake and ice cream!

2. Get close, fill the frame with the subject(s) you are wanting to capture.
3. Take action photos, capture the thrills and emotions by taking candid pictures.
4. Focus on small groups or individuals, you do not need to have every guest in every photo.
5. When you have your film developed, order extra prints and send them to the parents afterward.
