Fun Games, Activities And Crafts

I Dig Dino Party Activity
Put your paleontologists to work. They’ll dig through a block using an excavation tool to unearth a unique dinosaur. Ages 5+.

Bone Drop

Have child stand over a jar with a somewhat small opening (depending on child's age). Let them have 10 clothespins and see how many they can put in the jar by dropping them as they stand straight up.

Dino Egg Toss

This game must be played outdoors for it gets a little messy. Divide your guests into two equal teams. Have them line up in two horizontal lines facing each other about 2 feet apart. The person facing the other will be partners. Give one line an unboiled egg. At the sound of "go" the partner with the egg will toss it to the other. They must catch it without it breaking. If someone breaks the egg or does not catch it, they are out. Before they toss it again they both must take one step backwards. Repeat this until only one team is left.
You may substitute water balloons instead of real eggs.

Dinosaur Egg Hunt
On your child's special day, create a special dinosaur egg hunt in their honor. Use your own special surprises to represent "dinosaur eggs," or use the following directions. To make "dino eggs," cook at least one hard-boiled egg for each guest. After the eggs have cooled, crack the shells lightly with the back of a spoon to give them a prehistoric look. Then, place the eggs in dye for several seconds. This will make the eggs look like very old, cracked dinosaur eggs. Hide the "dino eggs" and other theme-related prizes in easy or hard-to-find places, based on the ages of the guests.

Cave Painting
Create your own prehistoric cave mural! Hang a wide roll of off-white or brown butcher paper on a wall, or spread it on a smooth floor surface. Provide paints, markers, crayons, stamps, etc. for your cave kids to use while creating their cave paintings. Lay out books and magazines with dinosaur pictures to give your guests extra ideas. Hang the mural up when the kids are finished to add special decoration to your Dinosaur party. This is a good activity for the beginning of the party to break the ice, and to provide the children with something to do until everyone arrives.

Catch the Dinosaur’s Tail
Direct everyone to form a single-file line, and hold onto the waist of the person in front of them. The first person in line is the head of the dinosaur, and the last person is the tail. When the game begins, the head tries to catch the tail. If the head successfully catches the tail, he or she stays at the back of the line and become the new tail. The chase continues!

Jell-O Eating Contest
Make one bowl of Jell-O for each child (plus a few extra). Line the bowls along the ground. Since this game can be messy, place a tablecloth or other protective covering down for easy clean up. Write the name of a dinosaur (animated or scientific) on each bowl to make the race more fun.

Each player places their hands on the ground beside their bowl and must keep them there throughout the game. When the command is given to begin, each contestant starts eating their Jell-O as quickly as possible. The first dinosaur to clean their bowl, wins! Be sure to have a camera ready!

Jungle Vines
This game will put your guests to the test by challenging both their skill and intelligence. Begin by having the children stand in a circle, facing inward. Have everyone extend their right hand into the ring and take hold of someone else’s hand. Then, have them do the same with their left hand. The object of the game is to untangle the “Jungle Vines” by stepping over, ducking under, turning around, or doing whatever it takes. Remind the kids not to let go of hands until they have successfully untangled the vines!

Archaeological Dig
Get your dinosaur lovers in on the action with this adventurous activity. Several weeks before the party, ask your local butcher or meat market for discarded bones. Clean them, let them dry and then paint them white. (Colored bones are also fun too!) Before the party, bury the bones in your child's sand box in various places. Provide shovels to dig the 'dinosaur bones' up and brushes to clean the dirt and sand off them. Be sure to bury enough bones so that each child has the opportunity to excavate at least one.

Fossil Mud Pie

24 Oreo Cookies

3 Tbls. melted Butter or Margarine

1 Pint Chocolate Ice Cream

Candy Dinosaurs - optional

Put the cookies in a plastic bag & crush them with a rolling pin. In a bowl, combine 3/4 of the cookies and the melted margarine. Place into a greased 9" pie tin. Press the mixture against the bottom & sides to form a crust. Freeze it for 20 minutes. Soften the ice cream by putting it in a bowl and stirring it with a large spoon. Mix in the candy dinosaurs
Carefully spread the softened ice cream over the frozen crust. Sprinkle the remaining cookie crumbs on the ice cream; freeze for at least one hour. Top each serving with a candy dinosaur or use one of our dino figurines Dino Figurines also make great cake toppers.

Volcano Cake

Make a volcano cake out of a bundt cake. Fill the center with pudding and let it ooze out the top. Place our plastic dinosaur figurines around the bottom and on top of the cake. You can make dirt around the bottom by sprinkling graham cracker crumbs.
