Can We Build It? Yes, We Can!
This simple activity is a great way to entertain guests while you’re waiting for everyone to arrive. All that you’ll need is Play-Doh® or modeling clay, and your guests’ creative minds will do the rest.

Protect the children’s work area with a plastic covering, place your choice of modeling materials within easy reach of everyone, and let your guests have fun creating whatever their hearts desire.

Buried Treasure
Your guests won’t need coaxing to dig in to this exciting game! Simply hide a number of small toys in a sandbox and let your guests have fun digging through the sand in search of the buried treasures.

Incorporate the theme into the game by hiding construction-related items, such as miniature tools or construction cones. Purchase miniature construction toys for more fun!

Bean Bag Toss
This game is even more fun if you have a foreman’s construction hat or a tool belt for the bean bag thrower to wear. Prepare for this activity before the party by making “rock” bean bags from a pair of grey socks, filling them with beans and closing them with a rubber band.

If your child has a toy dump truck or other construction machine toy, use it as the target. If not, draw a dump truck on the side of a cardboard box. Give each guest a turn to try and toss their “rocks” in the dump truck (or through a hole cut in the cardboard.) Even if you have to help the kids toss the bean bags, they will still enjoy the game!

Clean-up Relay
For this team relay, you’ll need wooden blocks, a bucket, and a plastic “monster claw” toy (the kind where you squeeze the handle to open a claw on the other end.) Divide the kids in teams, lining them up on one side of a large play area; place buckets on the other side. Place a claw toy and an equal number of blocks by the buckets for each team.

To begin, the first person on each team runs to their team’s blocks and uses the claw toy to pick one up and put it in the bucket. When finished, they return to their team and tag the next child, and so on until completed. The first team to finish, wins!

Wheel Barrow Races

Divide your party guests into two equal teams in two single file lines. Have the leader of each line get on their hands and knees. At the start of go the player behind them will grab his/her ankles and hold up their legs so they can only walk on their hands. Race to a designated area and have them reverse on the way back. Continue until one team finishes first.

Boulder Toss

Divide your little workers into two equal teams in separate lines. Give the leader of each line an inflated balloon. At the sound of go they must try to pass the balloon in the air to the next person in line without it ever touching the ground. When it reaches the end person have them pass it back to the front. The first team to get it to the front of the line wins.

Dirty Fun

Entertain them for hours with a load of dirt and some trucks, pails and shovels.

Tasty Treats And Menu Ideas

Work Site Sack Lunch
Make your guests feel like they’re having lunch on the job with Bob the Builder and his friends! Simply make a sack lunch for each guest using individually packaged food, such as juice boxes, dried fruit snacks, crackers and cheese, etc. Complete each lunch with a peanut butter and jelly sandwich! For fun, cut each sandwich into a silly shape using a cookie cutter. Pack each child’s meal in a lunch box or lunch bag and write his or her name on it.

Cream Puffs
If baking your cream puffs is out of the question, purchase some from a local bakery. Depending on the size of these delicious treats, give each guest his or her own cream puff, or cut each one into pieces and share it among your guests. Serve them in the bed of a toy dump truck, backhoe, or other construction vehicle for more fun!

Edible Tools
This requires a bit of creativity and preparation, but it’s guaranteed to get your little ones interested in their fruits and veggies! You’ll need toothpicks and your choice of fruits and/or vegetables. A round slice of cucumber can be easily shaped into the head of a wrench and attached to a celery stick handle. Or, slide a few black olives on the end of a thin carrot stick to make a screwdriver with a handle. Stick a round banana slice on a curved apple chunk to make a hammer head; attach it to a celery stick handle. Be creative and have fun, but be sure to remove toothpicks before eating the tools!

Mudslide Moo
Provide chocolate milk at your party for a “dirty” treat your guests will love! As you serve it, tell your guests there was a mudslide in your refrigerator.

Birthday Cake
Transform your child’s birthday cake into a job site! First, purchase your child’s favorite flavor of cake mix and two cans of frosting (one white for decorating). Bake cake and cool completely before icing it. When finished frosting the cake, take the white icing and divide it into two portions. Tint the first part yellow, and the second part black using drops of food coloring. Using a decorating tip, draw thick vertical lines on the sides of the cake, alternating the yellow and black. For variety, write “Caution” or “Construction Ahead” in bold black letters, outlined in yellow, on opposite sides of the cake.

Buy miniature construction toys. Decorate the top of the cake with the toy machines, mini construction cones, or tiny homemade road signs mounted on toothpicks. For more detail, build a log house with pretzel sticks, or a sidewalk with graham cookies. Use cocoa mix for dirt, caramels for boxes, pretzels for lumber, etc. The kids will be delighted with your creative scene!

1. Keep you camera close in hand through out the party so you don't miss a moment.
2. Get close, fill the frame with the subject(s) you are wanting to capture.
3. Take action photos, capture the thrills and emotions by taking candid pictures.
4. Focus on small groups or individuals, you do not need to have every guest in every photo.
5. When you have your film developed, order extra prints and send them to the parents afterward.
