Kids
Sing-a-long CD
Sing-a-Long to the top 57 kids songs. From "I'm
a Little Teapot" to "Row Your Boat" 57 great hits. Make sure to
have for car trips. Songs include: Jack and Jill, If your Happy & you Know
It, Head, Shoulder, Knees & Toes, Farmer in the Dell, Jack and Jill, This
Old Man, Humpty Dumpty and many more.
Bone
Drop
Have child stand over a jar with
a somewhat small opening (depending on child's age). Let them have 10 clothespins
and see how many they can put in the jar by dropping them as they stand straight
up.
Dino Egg Toss
This game must be played outdoors for it gets a little
messy.
Divide your guests into two equal teams.
Have them line up in
two horizontal lines facing each other about 2 feet apart.
The person facing
the other will be partners.
Give one line an unboiled egg.
At the sound
of "go" the partner with the egg will toss it to the one facing him.
They must catch it without it breaking. If someone breaks the egg or does not
catch it, they are out. Before they toss it again they both must take one step
backwards.
Repeat this until only one team is left.
You may substitute
water balloons instead of real eggs.
Barney
Videos
Videos make wonderful interactive activities for children, especially
when they feature Barney! They involve the children yet allow them to unwind after
livelier party activities. If you prefer, read your guests a story about Barney
and his adventures instead.
Barney's
Favorites Cassette Tape
Sing along with Barneys favorite songs,
and invite your guests to sing familiar songs they know and love. If you don't
already own this cassette, check your local library a week or two before the party.
Even if you choose not to use this as an activity, it makes wonderful background
music, especially to break the ice as guests arrive.
Stick
the Heart on Barney
Everyone knows Barney has a big heart, and your Barney
fans will love helping Barney put it back where it belongs. Purchase purple poster
board and cut out a Barney shape, or draw Barney on butcher paper. Indicate with
an outline where the perfect spot for his heart is. Use red or pink construction
paper to cut out a heart for each child. Cut a few extra in case of mishaps at
the party. Put each childs name on their heart, and put a piece of double
stick tape on the back before the childs turn.
Blindfold,
spin gently and direct each player towards the Barney you have taped on the wall.
The heart that ends up closest to the outlined heart wins. Children this age all
need to feel like winners, so prepare Barney sayings on cards for everyone. You
can have fun awarding them for things like closest to belly button, closest to
an eye, etc.
Baby Bop Hop
Uncork some old-fashioned energy with this lively relay! Divide your guests into
equal teams and line them up behind the start/finish line (marked on the floor
with masking tape.) Give the first person in each line a small balloon (5-6")
and have them put it between their knees. While holding the balloon between their
knees, each participant must hop across the room, around a chair, and back to
the start/finish line. Pass the balloon to the next player in line and repeat
until everyone has a turn.
Pinatas

Star Piņata
Your guests will be starry-eyed
when they see this colorful piñata. A removable sticker marks the hidden

rain down. This 96-piece assortment of toys and candy is perfect for eight guests,
and will bring even more fun to your piñata activity.
Pull-String
Piñata Kit

gentler piñata activity. Kit includes trap door release and 20 pull strings.

to directions in advance. On the party day, put one or two cranberry cubes in

1
- 10 oz. package frozen strawberries (partially thawed);
1 - 10 oz. package
frozen raspberries (partially thawed);
1 - 12 oz. can frozen lime juice concentrate;
1 - 32 oz. bottle of ginger ale (chilled);
1 - 32 oz. bottle of club
soda (chilled); and
1 pint vanilla ice cream.
Puree
berries in a blender and combine with the lime juice concentrate. Refrigerate
until party time. When ready to serve, pour mixture into a punch bowl and add

Barney
Cake
Your child will feel extra special with a birthday greeting from
Barney himself! To make a Barney cake, simply bake your child's favorite cake
recipe in a Barney cake pan (sold separately). Let the cake cool in the pan for
10-15 minutes before removing. Gently turn the pan over onto a large tray or platter
and let the cake slide out. Use food coloring to tint your icing purple, and cover
the entire cake with a thin layer.
If
you wish, define Barney's smile, arms, legs, tail, etc. with decorating gel, additional
icing, or small candies. If you need help, follow the Barney decorating instructions
as a guide. Small green candies or sprinkles work well for Barney's stomach. Red
hots can be used for his nostrils, and jelly beans or gum drops make great eyes
and toenails. Even if your Barney doesn't look exactly like the picture, your
guests will still love it!
Volcano
Cake
Make a volcano cake out of a bundt
cake. Fill the center with pudding and let it ooze out the top. Place our plastic
dinosaur figurines around the bottom and on top of the cake. You can make dirt
around the bottom by sprinkling graham cracker crumbs.
